Offer Description
Summary: There is an open call for two (2) Research Scholarship (“Bolsa de Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the project POWER - POCI-01-0247-FEDER-070365, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), through the Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Programme (COMPETE 2020) of the Portugal 2020 framework.
Scientific Area: Optical Communications
Group: Optical Communication Systems and Networking – Av
Work Objectives: The objective of the work is to engage in a dynamic team, to develop the next generation interfaces 50 G for PON network and to conceive and design the next interface generation 400 G and 800 G.
Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof. António Teixeira.
Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. Start date: June 2023 or soon thereafter.

Admission Requirements:
Research grants are intended:
- for students enrolled in a degree-conferring course to carry out R&D activities with the aim to consolidate their scientific training through the development of research work leading to the attainment of the respective academic degree or completion of the course (integrated or not in R&D projects).
- for students enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree but which are integrated in an educational project of a higher education institution and are developed in association or cooperation with one or several R&D units.
Candidates must be Ph.D. students enrolled in the areas of Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, Physics Engineering or equivalent. The candidate should be motivated to learn telecommunications in the specific area of photonics. He/she will deal with top-notch problems and team in the most advanced fields of telecommunications. The candidate should have a basic knowledge of signal theory or telecommunications. Any experience in simulations or lab will be of great relevance for the position.
Additional Information
Monthly salary: 1199.64 € according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.
