The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) opens a call for one (1) Research Grant for students enrolled in a higher professional technical course, degree, integrated master's, master's or in a course that does not confer an academic degree), Article 5º, Regulation n.º 950/2019 da FCT. in Environmental Sciences, in the frame of the R&D project GREENValue - Valuing Resource Generation In Natural Space, POCI-07-62G4-FEDER-181589, BII/UTAD/5/2023, with the financial support of Recovery assistance for cohesion and the territories of Europe (REACT-EU) through the Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Program (POCI) under the following conditions:

Work Plan:

Conducting bench tests with: 1) use of ApR, 2) use of stabilized sludge with calcium carbonate, 3) use of compost and vermicompost sludge. Follow-up field trials: Evaluation of the effect on soil and plant growth of the different implemented treatments (with stabilized and compost sludge).

Workplace:

The work will be carried out on the UTAD Campus of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, under the scientific guidance of Professor José Gomes Laranjo.

The work will be scientifically co-supervised by Professor Teresa Maria dos Santos Pinto and Professor Guilhermina Miguel da Silva Marques.

Duration of scholarship:

The scholarship will last for 5 months, starting on june 2023. The scholarship contract may be renewed, and the total duration may not exceed 6 months.

Observation:

If the scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in a course that does not confer an academic degree, the contract cannot exceed a total duration of 12 months.

Monthly maintenance allowance amount:

The scholarship amount corresponds to €541,12 according to the table of scholarships awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. in the country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The period of payment of the scholarship is monthly and through bank deposit, check or another equivalent method.

Selection Methods:

The selection methods to be used will be as follows: Curriculum evaluation, Interview of the top three candidates, in the sum of the two first criteria and previous experience of integration in work groups linked to studies in the plant area, with the respective valuation of 60%, 20 % and 20%.

Form of advertising/notification of results:

The final results of the evaluation will be publicized through a ranked list posted on the UTAD Campus Online Page (http://www.campus.utad.pt/bolsasinvestigacao/candidaturas), with the candidate being approved notified via email.

In the case that the selected scholarship holder withdraws, the final ranking list of candidates in this call may be used to replace them. If none of the candidates demonstrates that they have the profile indicated to carry out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship to the call.

If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the aforementioned disclosure, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure.

 Based on the final ranking list, a reserve list will be created, which will be used for the eventual hiring of new scholarship holders within the scope of this project or in case of withdrawal of the candidate classified in first place. In the event that none of the candidates demonstrates to have the profile indicated for carrying out the work plan, the jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship in the competition.
