Offer Description

There is an open call for applications for a Research Grant (BI) under the Project "ForestWaterUp - Soluções baseadas na natureza para o restauro ecológico de solos

degradados nos Lagos do Sabor", financed by Programa Operacional para a Competitividade e Internacionalização (POCI) – Iniciativa REACT-EU, Candidatura nº 13/ REACT-EU/2021, for 8 months, starting on 1 may 2023.

Applications should be made at https://concursos.ipb.pt/. The fellows will benefit of a salary of 875,98 euros as per the table of remuneration of FCT, I.P..

The fellow will also benefit from a personal accident insurance, and if not included in any social security protocol, may adhere to the Portuguese Social Security through the Seguro Social Voluntario (Voluntary Social Security), in the terms present in the "Portuguese Codigo dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social". The monthly salary will be payed by bank transfer. 

Work Plan:

1) Field work: monitoring of water quality, aquatic and riverine habitats, and biota (producers animals, aquatic invertebrates and fish) according to the Water Framework Directive (WFD) methodology

2) Laboratory Work: Treatment of water samples, invertebrates and fish

3) Collection, treatment and validation of data

4) Dissemination and exploitation of the results obtained

The Work Plan will be carried out in the Aquaculture and Aquatic Ecology Labs of the Escola Superior Agrária de Bragança/ Mountain Research Center, and in the watershed of the river Sabor

Benefits

The amount of the grant corresponds to € 875,98 , according to the table of values of the grants awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country. Eligibility criteria

1) Bachelor degree in Environmental, Agricultural or similar Sciences

2) Adequacy of the candidate's training and experience in relation to the objectives of the work to be carried out

3) Experience in field and laboratory work in the field of aquatic ecology and management of fish populations.

Applicants must also be enrolled in a master's degree in an area of interest for the project

Selection process

The selection methods to be used will be the following:

a) Curriculum evaluation and its adequacy to the project (45%)

b) Experience in field and laboratory areas related with aquatic ecology and management of fish populations (45%)

c) Interview (10%) - The candidates with the best scores in the above evaluation components may be invited to an interview with the jury, in which aspects related to performance in the required elements of work experience will be valued.

The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification to the candidates.

If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.

Additional comments

Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by a declaration of honor by the candidate, although substantiation of this condition is mandatory during the grant contracting stage.

 

Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. The presentation of the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
